Updated Saturday 06 March 2010 - Thanks to Mark of LESS IS MORE for contacting us with preliminary details of this year's WEYHILL FAIR BEER FESTIVAL, due to be held in the pub's grounds 23-25 July 2010. The Friday night music will be NOKANDO. Saturday will have music from TORN OFF STRIPS, LESS IS MORE, FLAXEN and the HUMBLE BEES, plus support. Updated Thursday 11 February 2010 - Thanks to JON WALSH for contacting us with some more gigs for 2010, including this year's second visit to Switzerland in March and a short solo acoustic tour of Cornwall in May. As the Jon Walsh Blues Band are local musicians, we're more than happy to list all of their gigs, even the Cornish and Swiss ones! As far as local gigs are concerned, Jon has been invited back to the Black Swan in Monxton to perform a set of acoustic Blues and Jazz in the restaurant on Saturday 20 March and then the whole band returns to Andover for a howlin' night of blues at the Wolversdene Club on Saturday 27 March. Updated Wednesday 06 January 2010 - Watch out for the live music coming to The Globe in Andover's High Street over the next couple of months - The new landlord Steve has been busy booking some great music. Local singer SARAH LOCKEY will be making regular appearances at the pub with her brand of rock and pop covers from the likes of Pink, Kings of Leon, Shania Twain and Alanis. RICHIE MADISUN will be performing an acoustic evening with special guests including DARRELL J. IAIN MCKELLAR is booked for a night of covers from the likes of Elvis and Buddy Holly. Other bands lined-up include young band THE FORTUNATE from Basingstoke (with Matty Twigg supporting), Up-and-coming London indie-folk group FRASER, professional duo Gary and Steve in TWIN AIRBAGS, Terri and her band, local favourites FLAXEN, rootsy R&B trio RED JACKSON, successful local group SION kicking of their UK tour, and Basingstoke-based rock covers band NO WAY OUT. Updated Tuesday 17 November 2009 - Thanks to Terry Trevett, current secretary of the WEYHILL ELECTRONIC ORGAN SOCIETY, for contacting us with details of their 2010 concert programme. The society was formed in 2002 on Terry's initiative, and it's the only such club in Test Valley. The concerts are aimed particularly at people who prefer their music to be melodious, easy listening and tuneful, and are guaranteed to provide enjoyable entertainment in a relaxed and friendly environment. A different top-class performer is booked for each monthly concert and the programmes are balanced to suit most musical tastes. Mynott's Wing is a new collaboration between Guy and Richard Cox-Smith, two well established acoustic musicians. Their two voices and guitars meld into a unique and inspiring sound. A typical Mynott's Wing set includes a range of styles and moods. As well as Guy's original songs, they also play songs from well known and lesser known sources. Richard takes the lead on the bluesy and roots numbers while Guy concentrates on the more contemporary folk elements of the set.
